Updates: January 1-7

I’m not usually one for resolutions, but this year I’m finding a few new routines and activities have kept me busy. Some of the things I’m trying to keep up with this year include keeping a note book, keeping up on my fitness and keeping up with these updates!

There have been a lot of resolution themed posts in this first week of 201 – here’s a few to peruse if you’re feeling the need for motivation:

  • With CF doing her Computer Science degree, I’ve often felt a little illiterate when it comes to coding or other computer related mumbo jumbo. I happened to stumble upon a post from a local bloggers Kurtis Kolt and Jake Skakun referencing Codeacademy’s ‘Code Year’. Geared towards those who have made their resolution to ‘learn code’, Code Year will send you an interactive programming lesson each week of the year. Focusing of javascript, it claims you will be ‘building apps and web sites before you know it’. I’ve signed up, in hopes of benefiting my business idea. It should be interesting!

  • I enjoy reading, and try to have one fiction and one non-fiction book on the go at any given time. The problem is, I’m a slow reader, and when I’m finished with a book, I don’t really have a plan or list for figuring out what to read next. Mr. Money Mustache has started putting together the “Triple M Reading List”, which has inspired me to actually make a list of the books I want to read this year. I’m going to keep track of books I’ve completed, with the hopes of finishing at least one book per month.

  • If your goals are more financial in nature this year, check our Get Rich Slowly’s “12 Steps to Financial Freedom in 2012.” The information is quite detailed and covers everything you need to know in order to get your financial house in order. Highly recommended.

Now, back to figuring out how I’m going to keep up with all of these activities…
