Over the past couple of years, a new breed of investors has evolved. Often referred to as “environmentally-conscious” investors, such people and organizations invest their money into projects that hold significance from an eco-friendly perspective. In fact, Green Investments, aka Socially Responsible Investing (SRI), has become somewhat of a trend in recent times.
People in huge numbers are putting their money to support business practices that have a positive impact on the environment and promote practices such as pollution reduction and conservation of natural resources.
Considering the kind of impact such initiatives can have, even renowned celebrities are stepping forward to participate in green investments. Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, for instance, are quite active in this kind of conscious investing for the environment, and they believe that it's time for everyone to make decisions that impact everyone.
How the Sussexes are making a difference
Harry and Meghan have taken up the new role of ‘impact partners’ with financial service company, Ethic, which aims to make environmental, social and governance investments for clients who have invested 1 billion dollars or more in value-driven companies.
A spokesperson for the company has shared that the couple is extremely committed to assisting in defining current issues such as, climate change, health, strengthening democracy, racial justice, and gender equity. Earlier during the year, they invested heavily in the company’s initiatives, and a large chunk of their investments are being managed by the company as well.
A little while ago, on The Archewell Foundation’s website, Megan and Harry released a statement that said that mentoring investments over time, volunteering in the investment community, and the choice of where and how to fund energy, defines each of us as a global community.
The power couple believes that it’s time for people to take a seat at the table when impactful decisions are being made. They want to rethink the nature of investing and move in the direction of solving global issues. Both of them are thrilled with their partnership with Ethic, for it is where their values are being put into action.
In an interview with Times, Megan shared that she and Harry were introduced to Ethic via their friends. They’ve wanted to align their investments with their values for quite some time now, and Ethic gave them the ideal opportunity.
The couple’s recent endeavors
Last year, Megan and Harry stepped back as senior members of the royal family and relocated to California. The couple has recently announced show deals with Netflix and Spotify. Now, Prince Harry is working as chief impact officer at BetterUp, a coaching and mental health company that also produced a mental health series with Oprah Winfrey for Apple TV+.
Lately, the couple has been making numerous public appearances and meetings, raising awareness and promoting the values they stand for. Both Megan and Harry have done a great job promoting green investment, and those who can afford it must try it out.
