Crispy Homemade French Fries

Homemade French Fries

Who doesn’t love french fries? This is an extremely versatile snack that can be enjoyed alone or alongside your favorite comfort food.

There will be times where we crave for this salty treat but if this is a staple in your household, especially if you have kids, it can get quite expensive to buy this every time you go groceries. Purchasing bags of fries at the grocery store may seem convenient but it could be costly especially if you or your family regularly consume these.

French fries are the perfect side dish for your sandwich, fish fillet, hamburger or even as something for you to much when you watch your favorite movie or TV series at home! Why spend so much when you can just make these right in your kitchen?

Ready in: 25 minutes
Prep Time: 15 minutes
Cooking time: 10 minutes
Serves 8

INGREDIENTS

2 1/2 pounds russet potatoes, peeled
1 cup all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon garlic salt
1 teaspoon onion salt
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon paprika
1/2 cup water, or as needed
1 cup vegetable oil for frying

PROCEDURE

1.Slice potatoes into french fries shape, and place into cold water so they won’t turn brown while you prepare the oil.
2.Heat oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. While the oil is heating, for the batter: sift the flour, garlic salt, onion salt, (regular) salt, and paprika into a large bowl. Gradually stir in enough water so that the mixture can be drizzled from a spoon.
3. Dip potato slices into the batter one at a time, and place in the hot oil so they are not touching at first. The fries must be placed into the skillet one at a time, or they will clump together. Fry until golden brown and crispy. Remove and drain on paper towels.
4. Serve with ketchup and enjoy!

Quick tip: The batter is also perfect for frying shrimp, chicken or even onion rings!
Want a healthier french fries version? You can also bake these fries and they will still turn out crispy. Baking time maybe 45 minutes to an hour, depending on how thick you cut the potatoes.

In the end you have the perfect crispy french fries.
