Few people can say that they’ve never heard about Michael Jordan, and it’s simply because he is one of the greatest basketballers of our times. He was included in the 2021 National Basketball Association 75 Team, adding to his list of accolades. One major hurdle he can’t seem to overcome is finding a buyer for his nine-bedroom home in Chicago.
The extensively customized residence includes 14 vehicle spaces, a movie theater, and a cigar room. Jordan and his former wife, Juanita Vanoy, parted with $2M for the 56,000-square-foot mansion. It’s been on the market since 2012 with a $29M price tag. Even with the listing price lashed down to $14.8M as of 2015, there are still no takers.
Shaquille O’Neal – Florida, $240 Thousand
The NBA 75 Team recognized basketball legends much like the 1996 “50 Greatest Players in NBA History.” Shaquille O’Neal was amongst the list of 75 players who made it on the 2021 list. Since retiring in 2011, O’Neal pursued multiple business ventures, including exploits in the real estate industry.
In 2012, he spent $235K on a relatively modest five-bedroom abode in Florida. Occupying 3,900 square feet, the residence features a wet bar, entertainment room, and granite countertops. Two years later, O’Neal sold the house for $240K, making a $5K profit. He reportedly bought the house for a family member, and O’Neal himself owned a sprawling mansion nearby.
Kareem Abdul-Jabbar – Hawaii, $5.9 Million
Kareem Abdul-Jabbar is yet another legendary National Basketball Association player who was elected to the 2021 NBA 75 Team. His heydays as a player were spent as a center for teams the Milwaukee Bucks and Los Angeles Lakers. When he transitioned into a coaching career, he worked with the Lakers and Los Angeles Clippers.
Away from the sport, he once owned a gorgeous Hawaiian oasis. The 5,912 square-foot abode was custom-built to accommodate his 7-foot 2-inch frame. Besides the customizations like high ceilings and doorway, other attractive features include a mini waterfall and lava-rock fireplaces. Abdul-Jabbar listed the tropical haven for $5.9M.

LeBron James is often compared to Michael Jordan simply because he’s one of the greatest. He has three NBA championship wins to his name won with three different franchises; Los Angeles Lakers, Miami Heat, and Cleveland Cavaliers. Nicknamed King James, he has made it to ten NBA Finals and boasts of having four NBA MVP awards. He joined the list of NBA 75 legends in 2021.
In 2018, when he had just inked a $153M contract with the Lakers, LeBron splurged $23M on a Brentwood mansion. The ultra-modern eight-bedroom home features French oak floors imported from Spain, a rooftop terrace, a wine cellar, and outdoor training space.
Kevin Durant – Malibu, $12.15 Million
Kevin Durant has enjoyed an illustrious playing career with teams like the Seattle SuperSonics, Golden State Warriors, and since 2019, the Brooklyn Nets. His prowess as a small forward helped him shoot the ranks of the best and, hence, the inclusion in the 2021 NBA 75 Anniversary Team. In 2022, Durant officially became a 12-time NBA All-Star.

Charles Barkley is yet another NBA legend who made it on the 2021 NBA’s 75th Anniversary Team. As a small forward/ power forward, he played for the Philadelphia 76ers, Phoenix Suns, and Houston Rockets. Post his basketball days, Barkley has enjoyed an equally successful career as a TV analyst, golfer, and professional gambler.
Away from the spotlight, he once enjoyed the solace of a 4,000-square-foot Sugar Land, Texas mansion. While he has mastered the art of making the right moves while playing, Curry took a loss on the sale of his Walnut Creek house in 2017. He bought the Mediterranean manse alongside his wife Ayesha Curry in 2015 for $3.2M. The pair put another $400K renovating the house, and while they listed it for $3.7M, Curbed reported that it closed for $3M.
Steve Kerr – San Francisco, $7.35 Million
Steve Kerr transitioned into coaching after playing with various teams like the Cleveland Cavaliers, Chicago Bulls, and San Antonio Spurs. He has been the Golden State Warriors’ coach since 2014. When gearing up for the 2019/20 season, Kerr went the full yard and settled in San Francisco with the purchase of a 4,000-square-foot abode.
Public records reveal that he paid $1.55M above the original $5.88M listing price to gain ownership of the Presidio Heights home. Kerr kicked off the playoffs with a joke about how much he spent, saying that it will take 20 years of coaching to break even.

Phil Jackson moved to the Big Apple in 2014 to officially assume his duties as the New York Knicks president. Jackson had just signed a five-year contract worth $60M with the Knicks, and perhaps that’s why he could splurge $4.85M on the Gilded Age unit. Three years later, he listed the Billionaires’ Row pad asking for $4.95M. While Jackson has now settled into his golden years, he featured in the 2020 Netflix documentary series “The Last Dance.”
Kyrie Irving – Ohio, $755K
The Cleveland Cavaliers drafted Kyrie Irving as the 1st overall pick in 2011, and he’s currently the Brooklyn Nets point guard. His career stats include making it to seven NBA All-Star games, including the 2021 exhibition. When the Celtics welcomed him in 2017, he decided to offload his Ohio home, asking for $1.7M.
After two price cuts over ten months, he eventually decided to take a loss on the sale. While Irving had dropped $800K on the Westlake abode in 2014, he parted with the residence for $755K. Paul George, who the Los Angeles Clippers shooting guard since 2019, sold his Geist Reservoir mansion at a loss. He bought the residence in 2013 after paying $2.05M, and public records reveal that the 12,605-square-foot abode exchanged ownership for $1.5M. George wasn’t occupying the residence and had long settled in Overland Park, Kansas.
Carmelo Anthony – New York, $12.85 Million
For his skills as a power forward/ small forward, Carmelo Anthony was amongst the list of players elected to the 2021 NBA 75 Team. He joined the Los Angeles Lakers the same year, after previously playing for the Portland Trail Blazers and Houston Rockets. Having banked a reported $160M throughout his career, buying a five-bedroom apartment at 508 West 24th Street for $11M didn’t dent his pockets.

The Phoenix Suns have a skilled point guard whose talents are backed up by being elected as an NBA 75 Team member in 2021. We are talking about Chris Paul, who joined the Spurs in 2020 after playing for the Oklahoma City Thunder and Los Angeles Clippers. Like his peers, he decided to offload a Bel Air Crest mansion he owned in 2016.
Dirk Nowitzki – Dallas, $6 Million
Dirk Nowitzki, a 2021 NBA 75 Team member and 14-time All-Star, listed his 5906 Deloache Avenue residence in 2020. He bought the four-bedroom house in 2019 for $5.75M and decided to offload it after owning it for less than a year. Initially listed for $8.25M, the historic property failed to attract a new owner.
Kristaps Porziņģis – New York, $8K/Month
Kristaps Porziņģis, the Dallas Mavericks’ center since 2019, recorded a season-high 32 points during his team’s 2021 victory match against the San Antonio Spurs. He also makes great moves in real-life, evidenced by when he rented a penthouse at 605 West 42nd Street in 2016. While he could easily buy the unit, Porziņģis chose to pay $8K each month to occupy the amenity-rich penthouse.
Chris Bosh – Miami Beach, $15.95 Million
Chris Bosh played for the Toronto Raptors and Miami Heat as a power forward/center. In 2021, he became a Basketball Hall of Fame inductee, and the two-time NBA champion also released a publication titled “Letters to a Young Athlete.” His impressive moves extend to the investments he made within the housing market, and most notably, that includes his Miami Beach mansion.

Kevin Garnett is respected for his defensive prowess as a power forward for the Minnesota Timberwolves, Boston Nets, and Boston Celtics. Besides being an MVP, he also made it on the 2021 NBA 75 Anniversary Team. During his trade to the Celtics, Garnett offloaded his contemporary Massachusetts home in 2013.

A leading NBA Scorer, Karl Malone, also known as the Mailman, was one of the greatest power forwards in the league’s history. Kicking off his career with the Utah Jazz, he recorded 36.928K points. His list of achievements also includes being a 14-time NBA All-Star, 11-time member of the All-NBA First Team, and in 2021, he was elected as part of the NBA 75 Team.
Malone spent part of his $55M fortune buying a residence in Salt Lake City. In 2005, he listed the abode for sale at a whopping $6.1M. The home did not move for 17 months, even after a significant price cut. The residence eventually found a new owner who bought it for $2.5M via bidding.
Allen Iverson – Georgia, $1.05 Million
Allen Iverson is at the top of the list of the greatest NBA guards. His list of achievements includes being a Hall of Famer, eight-time NBA steals leader, and four-time NBA scoring champion. In 2021, he expanded his ventures to include “The Iverson Collection” which is a joint cannabis business partnership with Al Harrington.
Iverson banked an estimated $250M from his career explaining why he invested in an Atlanta address in 2016 for $2.19M. Sadly, in 2013, the residence went under foreclosure.
