Do you know what Australia’s favorite car brand is? Mercedes-Benz has taken the spot as the favorite luxury car brand in Australia! Just five months after starting a new “dealer” business model, Mercedes-Benz came close in competition with nemesis BMW. The gap is slightly narrowed as workers at BMW noticed a decline in their sales at a slow rate. In third place, Audi is keeping up the hustle to grow and leave all the charging Teslas and Volvo at bay; all while battling its way through painful stock shortages. 

An interesting fact is that all three luxury brands have faced a decline in their sales at much a greater rate than the total new-vehicle market. The decline rate by the middle of 2022 was 4.1 percent. 

1. Mercedes-Benz

Mercedes-Benz is a luxury car praised not only by Australia but the entire world. It is a car that delivers excellence in all aspects: comfort, ride, safety, fuel economy, and handling. By mid-2022, a total of 10,547 Mercedes-Benz had been sold during the calendar year.

2. BMW

BMW is a car famous for its safety, performance, and quality. This car is designed to bestow comfort and safety in cases of an accident and generally even while driving. The car also features laser-cut keys that are best for security and makes them nearly impossible to steal. By mid-2022, BMW cars boasted the highest number of sales in the luxury car market segment in Australia for the calendar year.

3. Audi 

The epitome of elegance, Audi is a combination of impressive tech features, cutting-edge upholstery for its seating, and a soft-touch interior made out of plastic are what people seem to love about this car. The number of Audi’s sold by mid-2022 was 4690. 

4. Volvo

Volvo is a car company that prioritizes safety when it comes to designing the perfect car. Not just in Australia, but all over the world, Volvo is a car that is known to be one of the safest on the road. 

5. Tesla

Tesla is hands-down one of the best electric cars out there. It’s a car that is a result of absolute brilliance when it comes to engineering. It lived up to its promise. However, the car comes in at no.5 on the list with 4481 sales across Australia during the first 6 months of 2022.

6. Lexus

Lexus is a high-quality brand that creates vehicles that provide comfort, are dependable, and drive a bit more smoothly as compared to other cars in the market. By mid-2022 Lexus had sold 3320 cars in Australia during the calendar year.

So there you have it. These brands more or less find themselves neck-to-neck in the competition where sales in Australia are concerned. They are also more or less the same conglomerates ruling the car market in the rest of the world. However, you might find some other names in the top 3 elsewhere.
