Whether at school or at work, you are bound to make friends wherever you go since it's natural for humans to socialize and interact. So, the moment you enter a new space, you observe and find the ones you have something in common with; it could be a favorite TV show or mutual hate for a mean boss. However, when it comes to workplace friendships, many people are under the impression that these friendships don’t add significant value to your life and are considered temporary.
For people in the entertainment industry, this stereotype is further solidified as many people consider friendships as a way to boost their career into the spotlight but is this common sentiment true, or is there some positive notion to it as well? If you want to know more, then check out this list of Indian celebrities who are spilling the beans on what it’s like to have industry friendships.
1. Raima Sen
For Raima, the starlet finds it easier to have friends outside the entertainment industry. Sen states that she has a cordial relationship with other stars from Bollywood and Tollywood. She socializes and hangs out with them, but when it comes to getting on a personal level, she avoids her industry colleagues. Raima fears that her feelings and her secrets might turn into the next big gossip so she always maintains a safe distance but when it comes to her real friends, she can always open up to them about whatever she likes.
2. Dev
When asked about friendships in the entertainment industry, Dev shared the downside of being famous and the impact it has on your relationships. In the beginning, he was taken back by the changed behavior of people and how they abandoned him during times of need. Dev mentioned that most of the friendships you observe on social media are mostly superficial, and it is just a façade to show the world. He also commented on the industry's culture and mentioned that while most people are hanging out and partying with their ‘friends’, they will soon be the ones backstabbing. Like Raima, he also stated that his school friends happen to be his close friends that he can count on.
3. Nusrat Jahan
Nusrat Jahan did not hold back when he was asked about the industry friendships, she stated that her vast experience has resulted in her belief that in the industry, you can only have healthy, cordial relationships but never friendships. Her reasoning was that friends shouldn’t judge each other and anytime, she found himself in a sticky situation, her ‘friends’ were the first ones to judge her and leave her on her own. Jahan continued and mentioned that her bias could also be because of the fact that she has never experienced true friendship, and the only people who have always had her back were her husband and family.
Yikes, this doesn’t sound too good. What’s your take on industry friendships?
