Eileen Derbyshire (Born In 1931) – Coronation Street

Eileen Derbyshire may have retired, but her legacy lives on, especially in the British history of soap operas. She played Emily Bishop in the long-running ITV soap opera “Coronation Street” from 1961 to 2016. Bearing the character for 55 years, she is the longest-serving female cast member in a British soap opera.

Apart from the famous drama, Derbyshire acted in the 1969 television movie “All Star Comedy Carnival.” Throughout her career, Derbyshire also enjoyed happy family life, and her son, Oliver Holt, has become a famous sports journalist. In 2010, she was appointed an MBE during the Queens Birthday Honours list for her long-time contribution to the field.
